More Comments from Colony Creek Farm

Every year I seem to make new mistakes. I guess I'll have to keep farming until I die, in my continuing attempt to get it right. However, I did get a number of crops just right. They would be: carrots, lettuce, radishes and cucumbers.
Customer response to the Sweet Baby Jane carrots was very favorable.

Lovelock lettuce is astounding. Quick, big and crunchy. Six frosts and I'm still harvesting.

Cherriette radishes are eye-popping red. I will never again underestimate the public's demand for radishes. I have a very small farm and I once sold three cases of radishes as a Saturday market.

The Adam cucumber is snack-sized, think skinned, and everything a cucumber should be.I may flash out and buy Roxynantes for a longer versionI won't again plant Summer Dance cuke in the cucumber greenhouse. It only works for the first 2.5 weeks -then it is too hot!

Debbie owns Colony Creek Farm in Mount Vernon WA. 1 acre of flowers, herbs, mixed veg, garlic, pumpkins and winter squash. She sells through her CSA and Farmers Markets. Debbie works in the off-season at Osborne Seed Co.
